[ The past couple of months have been frustrating, to say the least; he'd been pulled across dimensions and dropped into a completely unfamiliar world almost immediately after recovering his memories and he isn't happy about being removed from the board right as he was approaching his endgame for humanity. Have they destroyed themselves already in his absence, or has society managed to avoid total nuclear annihilation for now? Ideally, it's the latter, because he wants to watch its downfall with his own two eyes and be present for the fight against God. And more importantly, is Akira alive and well? Amon's strength should keep him alive through the apocalypse, but uncertainty still tugs at the fringes of his mind. He should be there with him so they can enter the new world together.
But the time spent here has been interesting in some ways, too. While Ryo holds no fondness for humanity (with the notable exception of one particularly dumb and horny human) he is still an anthropologist with a PhD to show for it and the components that make up this society built around hedonism and a class divide are fascinating in a lot of ways. The novelty might've worn off by now, but every so often he finds himself watching people with detached interest, pondering their behavior and how they choose to participate in these institutions. Some otherworlders are quick to start acting on their darker impulses, only needing a little encouragement. Others are more stubborn, only doing what's expected of them because there's little choice in a society with rigid expectations.
Ryo, for his part, has been more stubborn than most. He'd rather delve into intellectual pursuits than do the dirty with somebody; he's never been particularly interested in sex and that sure wasn't going to change now. The prospect of forming a contract with a Submissive doesn't interest him either so he goes without one until the authorities decide to take matters into their own hands, informing him that they will assign him one. He initially intends to ignore whoever he's assigned to and refuse to engage with them, but then reconsiders. Having a Submissive around could be useful, and people would stop bothering him with their incessant questions on why he isn't courting a Sub.
And that's why he's at the Up courthouse today, to meet with with whoever the government decided to pick for him. He only spares Belial a brief, assessing glance as he moves to sit down in one of the leather armchairs, crossing his legs at the ankles as he starts to look through the contract written up for them. It's probably just one of the standard ones, but Ryo is thorough and will sift through the legalese to make sure there are no nasty surprises. ]
Not interested. [ He replies coolly, not even bothering to look up at him. ]
